Asbestos Diseases Research Foundation
The Asbestos Diseases Research Institute aims to improve the diagnosis and treatment of asbestos-related diseases and at the same time to contribute to more effective measures to prevent exposure to asbestos.
The objective is to promote the research of asbestos and asbestos-related diseases (ARDs) and to aspire to provide leadership and excellence in the process.
Principal research areas
- Public health and preventive research on asbestos-related diseases including themes on epidemiology, quality of life studies, patient support activities, education and training, and assessment of the global burden of asbestos-related diseases.
- Laboratory research focusing on malignant pleural mesothelioma and in particular the identification of new biomarkers and therapeutic approaches to this disease.
- Clinical studies to develop and apply new targets for treatment.
