“It’s great to hear – Professor Anne Kelso is the type of leader medical research needs, she has done excellent work consulting with the sector and responding to their needs,” said Professor Tony Cunningham AO, President of the Association of Australian Medical Research Institutes.

During her time as CEO of the NHMRC, AAMRI has been especially impressed with the work done by Professor Kelso in responding to the needs of the sector by redesigning the grant program.

Professor Cunningham said that coming off the back of a series of exciting announcements for the sector in the Budget, it was looking like a promising period for medical research. “Knowing we have another five years with Professor Kelso at the helm will help bring stability at a time of great change in the medical research sector,” he said. “With the new Budget announced and Australia confirming its investment in medical research infrastructure, we look forward to working with the NHMRC and Professor Kelso during this time.”
