Ensuring Australia’s legal framework remains up to date and relevant is vital to the ongoing success of medical research. Philanthropy and fundraising provided over $360 million to medical research institutes to undertake important research projects in 2016-17. In AAMRI’s submission to the Senate inquiry into Charity Fundraising in the 21st Century the importance of harmonising fundraising legislation across the country is discussed. Having one set of standard rules would help reduce red-tape and increase compliance.
