2022 AAMRI Convention brings together sector leaders

For two days in Canberra, the Association of Australian Medical Research Institutes (AAMRI) will be hosting institute Directors, senior leaders and experts from across Australia to tackle the issues and opportunities currently at the forefront of the medical research sector.

This year is the biggest and busiest Annual Convention in AAMRI’s 29 years – which includes a Gala Dinner at Parliament House.

“The enthusiasm and interest this year is unprecedented, with representatives from every state and territory attending from across our member institutes,” said Professor Kathryn North AC, AAMRI President.

“We are all keen to meet in person. The pandemic has shown how important health and medical research is and how responsive and agile medical research institutes are. It is now time to make sure we’re prepared for whatever future health crises come next,” said Professor North.

There will be 13 sessions across the two-day convention focusing on topics including the need for a new Health and Medical Research Strategy and reflections on the NHMRC program with Professor Anne Kelso AO, NHMRC CEO.

Thanks to CSL Limited and the Australian Institute of Policy and Science (AIPS), the CSL Florey Medal and CSL Next Generation Award will both be presented at this year’s AAMRI Gala Dinner. The guest speaker for the evening will be The Hon Emma McBride MP, Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention and Assistant Minister for Rural and Regional Health.
