AAMRI Submission: Responding to revisions to National Statement for Ethical Conduct in Human Research, Chapters 4 & 5

AAMRI Submission: Responding to revisions to National Statement for Ethical Conduct in Human Research, Chapters 4 & 5

5th November, 2020

In this submission, AAMRI has provided feedback from the medical research institute sector to the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC)’s consultation on proposed revisions to the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research, 2007 (updated 2018) in Chapters 4 and 5.

Developed by the Australian Health Ethics Committee (AHEC), the revised sections provide advice for both researchers and Human Research Ethics Committees (HRECs) addressing ethical considerations related to potentially vulnerable participants in research (Chapter 4) and research governance and ethics review (Chapter 5).

The revised text for Chapters 4 and 5, explanatory material and survey can be accessed via the NHMRC’s consultation hub. AAMRI’s responses to consultation questions were submitted through the NHMRC’s online survey, and are available as a pdf below.
